Darned Ideas Craft Nights – Asheville, NC Event Photographer {In the Field Photography}

Walk into Metro Wines on the 3rd Thursday of the month and there, in the back of the store behind organized rows of reds & whites, you’ll find a gathering of excited DIYers. Stephanie Mergelsberg, the creative mind behind Darned IdeasMeet + Make + Take Craft Nights greets each guest as they arrive and equips them with drink tickets and a paper bag brimming with all the supplies needed for tonights projects and then some.

DIY Soy Candles

The Meet + Make + Take Craft Nights are new to Asheville and totally amazing. I watched as dozens of pairs of eager hands skillfully filled kitschy thrift store cups with wax and dried lavender under Stephanie’s gentle guidance. Vats of wax bubbled away on portable burners and it felt like a science class of crafty proportions. Crafters surround the table, sip wine, and share conversations & laughter. I am certain that these nights won’t stay intimate for long–they fit in perfectly with Asheville’s creative culture of DIY enthusiasts.

Handmade embroidered cards
The candles are left to set and Stephanie auctions off a TON of enviable items, anything from needlework books to handmade placemats. The lucky winners stash their goods and everyone reconvenes at another table set with all the makings for a hand embroidered card. I would never even think to embroider a card–that’s why people like me need people like Stephanie and events like this in my life.

Don’t let your next project end up like these Pinterest fails. Get a hand from a pro. The next Meet + Make + Take Craft Night is coming right up! Get your tickets here.
